What to Pack for the Hospital
- For Your Child:
- Favorite stuffed toy or blanket from home.
- A small photo album filled with familiar faces (for familiarity).
- Music box, cassette or cd player. (Helps with pain management and sleep).
- Favorite books, puzzles, games and movie tapes.
- Pencils, pens, markers, and / or crayons, colouring books
- An empty journal. (Helps to pass the time and deal with feelings).
- Socks and/or slippers.
- Going home outfit.
- For You:
- Your child's Care Notebook (To provide the most accurate health history and to record new things.)
- Your (and your child's if applicable) Care Plan. (Helps solidify your wishes.)
- Comfortable clothes (Be sure to include a favorite shirt or bathrobe that your child is familiar with to provide familiarity and comfort.)
- Clothes to sleep in. (Sweat pants and T- shirts are a good choice for sleeping on a parent bed in your child's room.)
- Housecoats are great too!
- Your own toiletries.
- Your own medications, if applicable.
- Some of your favorite snacks.
- COMFORTABLE shoes.
- Reading material.
- Money for meals.
- Change for pop or snack machine.
- Your personal phone book from home.
- Health insurance card and provider's phone number.
- An empty journal (Helps pass the time and a good coping tool).
- A camera.
- Long Distance Calling Card.
