Ideas on Where to Find Extra Money and Support for Your Child's Care
- Ask your local community for help. Try service clubs such as the Rotary Club and Lion's club. Some bingo halls will help you raise money!
- Many hospitals are affiliated with " Ronald McDonald" houses or something similar like this where you can stay for a minimal charge per night (or for free if you have a financial need). Call your local hospital for more information or contact Ronald McDonald Charities directly.

- For help covering gaps in insurance or when insurance is depleted before care is completed:
- First Hand Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps children with health-related needs when insurance and other financial resources have been exhausted. Their mission is to directly impact the health status of a young life. Since their inception in 1995, First Hand has assisted more than 42,000 children in 57 countries around the world.
- UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation is a non-profit Section 501(c)(3) charity understands the needs of children who have medical needs that are sometimes not insured comprehensively to provide coverage for all of their medical treatments. There are few places for families who have gaps in their commercial health benefit plan coverage to turn to for funding medically necessary services for their children. Children may go without necessary treatment, or, they receive the care and families assume a large amount of debt. The Foundation understands these needs and is willing to help fill this void.
- State and Provincial Programs: Although some of these programs may appear that they are only for "physically or mentally handicapped' children, these programs also encompass access to help for children and adults with bladder exstrophy and its associated needs (sometimes covered under 'urological conditions' etc).
