Ostomy Youth Camp – Canada
July 7 - July 12
Summer will be here before you know it and Ostomy Youth Camp – Canada wants you to think about the best camp for your young patients. There is a place for young estimates to be active, creative, playful, social, and most importantly, know they’re not alone.
The Ostomy Canada Society hosts a camp for children between the ages 9 – 18 who have had or who will have bowel or bladder diversionary surgery (such as an ostomy) or who have related special needs (i.e. self catheterization, bowel and bladder incontinence), due to birth defects, trauma or disease (e.g. Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Cancer, Spina Bifida).
The camp cncourages independence and self confidence with personal care and camp activities. Individual ET and UOAC counselling on physical and psychosocial needs are provided.
Activities include formal/informal education sessions, swimming, camp out, outdoor recreation, rafting, arts and crafts, dance, and rap sessions.
No child is ever denied the opportunity to attend camp because of financial need. Contact the Ostomy Canada Society for information about financial assistance.
