Uniting the World’s Brightest Minds: The 2025 IBEC Conference at CIVIL Hospital

Imagine a room filled with 51 of the world’s top pediatric urology specialists, all gathered with a single mission—to transform the lives of children born with bladder exstrophy. That’s exactly what happened at CIVIL Hospital, as it proudly hosted the 2025 International Bladder Exstrophy Collaborative (IBEC) Conference!

A Global Effort to Change Lives

Bladder exstrophy is a rare and complex condition that requires precision, expertise, and relentless dedication from medical professionals. That’s why this conference isn’t just another medical gathering—it’s a global movement to push boundaries, share breakthroughs, and improve surgical techniques that will impact countless young lives.

Leading the Way in Pediatric Urology

The International Bladder Exstrophy Collabortative (IBEC), now in its 18th year, brought together top surgeons with special expertise in bladder exstrophy surgery from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Cincinnati Children’s, Seattle Children’s and Toronto Sick Kids along with the unique patient advocacy skills of A-BE-C in a partnership with CIVIL Hospital, Ahmedabad.

Civil Hospital CEO Dr. Rakesh Joshi and senior pediatric urologist Dr. Jaishri and their team, along with IBEC co-founder, Dr. Aseem Shukla, rolled out the red carpet to welcome specialists from across the world. These medical pioneers gathered to discuss new approaches, share success stories, and collaborate on groundbreaking treatments.

Their collective knowledge, combined with cutting-edge technology and years of experience, is what made this conference a game-changer for pediatric urology. The work done here is shaping the future of bladder exstrophy treatment and giving hope to families who once had none.

Why This Matters

When medical minds from different corners of the world come together, magic happens. Innovations are born, techniques are refined, and most importantly, children facing life-altering conditions get a second chance at a normal life.

By hosting this prestigious event, CIVIL Hospital is made a bold statement: We are committed to pushing the boundaries of medicine, leading the charge in pediatric urology, and giving every child the best shot at a healthy future.

Help Us Continue to Transform Lives

Let’s celebrate the brilliance of these medical heroes and their dedication to changing lives—one child at a time!

Support A-BE-C in our mission to sponsor a child and their doctor from a developing country to India for the 2026 IBEC workshop, where they can receive life-changing treatment from the incredible IBEC team—care they otherwise cannot access in their home countries.

Your past and future support also helps us provide compassionate care to the children and families attending the annual workshop. We offer elaborate care packages, cozy blankets, and organize child-focused initiatives each year, designed to reduce stigma and keep spirits high during rigorous testing and surgical interventions.

Together, we can give these children the care, comfort, and hope they deserve.
