One Act of Kindness Can Change Everything
Fifteen years ago, a baby boy named Solomon was born in Uganda with a condition no one could name. There were no doctors trained to help him, no hospital equipped to treat him. His parents—desperate and determined—traveled all the way to Kenya, where a small missionary hospital finally gave them answers: cloacal exstrophy. A complex and rare defect, but treatable. That journey saved his life.
Solomon’s story was just the beginning.
Since then, A-BE-C has deepened its commitment to children with bladder exstrophy in Uganda. In 2019, we launched the A-BE-C Uganda Initiative, a team of passionate surgeons, nurses, and social workers who travel to Uganda each year. These volunteers pay their own way, leave their families behind, and work alongside Ugandan medical professionals to perform surgeries, provide training, and build sustainable local expertise.
In 2022, we partnered with EMERGENCY Hospital in Entebbe—a modern pediatric surgical center offering free care to children. It’s been a game-changer. But without transportation, many families simply cannot access the help that’s available.
The surgeries are free. The barrier is transportation.

Most families affected by bladder exstrophy live far from Entebbe, in rural areas with little to no income. The cost of transport to and from the hospital is often more than what these families earn in a month. And so, many children—despite the availability of surgery—are unable to receive the care they need simply because they cannot get there.
This September, A-BE-C will return to Uganda for our annual surgical workshop. The week will include surgeries, follow-ups, diagnostic testing, and culminate in a Family Education Day—a day of community building, shared learning, music, games, and hope.

Last year, we served more than 75 children. This year, we expect even more. We want every child to receive care—no matter where they live or what they can afford.
$100 = One Life-Changing Journey
A gift of $100 will provide transportation for one child and their caregiver to attend this year’s workshop and receive the follow-up care they’ll need throughout the year.
If 100 people give $100, every family who needs help will receive it.
Your generosity can help a child like Solomon not just survive, but thrive.
Please join us in this effort. No child should be left behind.
